ARGENTINA... The Difference You Are Looking For!

ABOUT US

Sebastian Fernandez Argumedo, President of South American Adventures Company, founded El Cencerro over seven years ago and now South American Adventures, taking his first group of clients over the Andes. Since then he has successfully guided several annual trips, catering exclusively to Argentine and European clients.

Sebastian is a very accomplished horseman. He has worked as a horse trainer in the U.S.A. and most recently as a mountain guide, teamster and horse trainer in Kananaskis country west of Calgary. Among a list of noted accomplishments Sebastian enjoys playing polo like every horseman from Argentina. Polo is very important to him and he loses no opportunity to promote it. In fact, while working in the Calgary area, Sebastian was a guest player at the Calgary Polo Club, usually playing with visiting US teams. This keen interest, coupled with his recent “experience” with our frigid Canadian winters inspired Sebastian to explore the possibility of offering polo in Argentina to winter bound Canadians. Sebastian feels that 7 months of “this kind of winter” is far too long to be away from the game. He wishes to extend a very warm invitation to any and all like minded Canadians to join him in Salta for a “chukker or two”.

Señor Ramiro Zamora, our Polo Contractor,  is a highly accomplished horseman and top polo player, not only in Argentina, but in the International Polo circuit. His love of horses and polo have spanned 47 years and he now operates an excellent polo stud at La Loma de Zamora, breeding some of Argentina’s top polo horses.

A brief overview of Señor Zamora’s accomplishments would read as follows: several time winner of “Best Player Award” for games and tournaments; holder of a “ 7 goal handicap” in England; played in the Cinzanno’s Cup, the Ascot Cup and the Queen’s Cup in England as a member of Major Ferguson’s team (father to Princes Sarah). Señor Zamora continues to play polo in the high handicap circuit in Argentina and is held in high regard by his peers and the up and coming in the polo world. Señor Zamora is “polo” in northern Argentina!

Gerald Bomersine, from Okotoks, Alberta, developed a love of horses at a very early age and subsequently learned most things “equine” the hard way. Two years ago Gerald retired from the R.C.M.Police after a successful 27 year career with the Force. Over 20 years ago Gerald began and continues to breed and train horses on a small scale, having started with Arabs and now warm bloods. His riding interests are quite general and varied in scope with a growing interest in competitive trail riding and a particular interest in promoting riding with youth through the 4H programme. Gerald has been involved in numerous fund raising projects over the years which involve horses. He was a key member of the  R.C.M.P. “F” Division 125 Anniversary committee responsible for developing the March  West  Re-enactment in 1998/99. In 1999 he was offered the position of Ride Master for the trek which encompassed a month, covered over 800 km and was an overwhelming success.

In his retirement Gerald has become a mountain guide and teamster. It was during his mountain experience that he met Sebastian. One day he expressed the wish to ride someplace WARM this winter - say in ARGENTINA! It was shortly after that Sebastian put forward his idea of a winter polo vacation for Canadians and offered Gerald a partnership in the enterprise. The result - our newly announced “Polo Vacation” through South American Adventures Company. Gerald knows all too well the frustration of putting his riding on hold for “old man winter”.  He is looking forward to meeting all of you in Salta, where winter cold is only a memory.
